ONUR OLGUNER

PRESIDENT

Onur Olguner was born in Nicosia in 1985.

He completed his undergraduate education in Architecture at Middle East Technical University and earned his Master of Science degree in Building Energy Performance Modelling from Cardiff University. He is one of the founding partners of Olguner Architecture Office, established in 2010.

Since 2011, he has served as a part-time lecturer at Eastern Mediterranean University, European University of Lefke, and Cyprus International University,teaching courses on architectural design, architectural ethics, and office management.

In 2012, during his service as a Board Member of the KTMMOB Chamber of Architects, he coordinated the commission responsible for implementingAccessibility Standards for Persons with Disabilities. During this period, he also prepared the report for the Digital Visa Submission Portal, which constitutedthe first steps toward the Digital Visa system.

Between 2014 and 2018, he served as a Board Member responsible for Projects at the Cyprus Turkish Orthopedic Disabled Association.

Beginning in 2013, he served for two consecutive terms as a Council Member of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality. During this period, he chaired the TechnicalAffairs and Urban Design Committee of the municipality, through which the Nicosia Walled City Pedestrianization Project was implemented in 2013. Within thesame year, he also chaired a stakeholder committee formed by representatives of KTMMOB, which successfully introduced the country’s first “BuildingInspection” implementation.

Since 2015, he has written more than 250 opinion columns on architecture and cities for Yenidüzen Newspaper. In 2020, he published his book titled Bir Lefkoşa Hikayesi.

In 2023, he was elected President of the KTMMOB Chamber of Architects during its 55th and 56th Ordinary General Assembly, and he continues to serve inthis position.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CEMAL AKTUNÇ

GENERAL SECRETARY

He was born in Nicosia in 1988. After completing his high school education at Near East College, he graduated from the Department of Architecture at Near East University in 2011.

For five years, he worked both in his family company and in his own private architectural office, undertaking roles in site architecture and projectmanagement. Since 2016, he has been carrying out architectural design and construction supervision services in his own office.

He currently serves as the Secretary Member of the 56th Term Executive Board of the KTMMOB Chamber of Architects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AHMET ÖZENÇ         

TREASURER

Ahmet Özenç was born in Istanbul. After completing his primary and secondary education at one of Türkiye’s well-established educational institutions, he moved to Cyprus to pursue architectural studies and successfully completed his undergraduate education at Eastern Mediterranean University.

Following his undergraduate studies, he was nominated for a European Union Scholarship and completed his Master of Science in Architecture (MSc in Architecture) at Politecnico di Milano.

After completing his graduate education, he worked as an architect in leading architectural offices in Istanbul, contributing to projects of various scales andprograms, including residential, industrial, public, and commercial developments. During this period, he also continued his own architectural practice in bothIstanbul and Cyprus.

In addition to his professional work, between 2015 and 2022, he served as a part-time lecturer at the Faculties of Architecture of Eastern Mediterranean University and Final International University.

Within the KTMMOB Chamber of Architects, he has served on various committees and boards. He currently continues his duties as a member of theChamber’s Publication Committee and as the Treasurer of the 56th Term Executive Board of the Chamber.

Today, he continues his architectural practice as a founding partner of Antre Design.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

İPEK YARALIOĞLU

BOARD MEMBER

was born on October 30 in Köşklüçiftlik, Nicosia. She graduated with High Honor Degree from the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Near East University.

In 2018, she completed a master’s degree in the Architecture Program at the Institute of Science and Technology of Near East University with the thesis titled “The Concept of Conservation in Historic Cities and the Effects of Tourism-Induced Changes on Urban Fabric: Morphological Change Analysis in Kyrenia Ancient Harbor and Its Surroundings.”

In the same year, she began doctoral studies in the Architecture Program at Near East University, and this process is currently ongoing.

She is currently working as a full-time Lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture of Near East University. Throughout her academic career, she has participated invarious symposiums, conferences, and congresses focusing on architecture and education.

 

  

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DOĞA ÜZÜMCÜOĞLU

BOARD MEMBER

Doğa Üzümcüoğlu was born in Güzelyurt in 1989. After completing high school education at Güzelyurt Kurtuluş High School, he completed his architectural education at Eastern Mediterranean University.

Following his undergraduate studies, between 2013 and 2022, he pursued his Master’s and PhD education at Eastern Mediterranean University whilesimultaneously working as a Research Assistant. During this period, he was also elected as the University Research Assistants’ Representative.

Between 2022 and 2024, while serving as a Faculty Member at Rauf Denktaş University, he undertook several administrative responsibilities, includingMembership in the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Board and Coordination of the Graduate Programs and Research Institute.

Since 2024, he has been working at Girne American University as a Faculty Member in the Architecture Program, Head of the Departments of Architectureand Interior Architecture, and Vice Chair of the University Social Sciences Ethics Board. He currently continues his role as a Member of the 56th Term Executive Board of the KTMMOB Chamber of Architects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ÖZNEM ŞAHALİ KOVANCI

ALTERNATE BOARD MEMBER

Öznem Şahali Kovancı (B.Arch, M.Sc., PhD) completed her undergraduate and master’s education in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Eastern Mediterranean University between 2003 and 2009 and received her PhD degree from the same university in 2015.

She currently serves as a Full-Time Faculty Member in the Department of Architecture at Eastern Mediterranean University and held the position of Vice Chairof the Department of Architecture between 2022 and 2025.

Holding an Occupational Health and Safety certification, Şahali has also contributed to society through various services and training activities carried out with different institutions in this field. In addition, she is a member of the Publication Committee of the KTMMOB Chamber of Architects.

Her academic studies focus on tectonic theory, structural and construction theory in architecture, masonry structures, and earthquake-oriented structuralapproaches. In particular, she conducts research on contemporary interpretations of masonry buildings, material–tectonic relationships, and the structuralbehavior of masonry systems in the context of seismic effects.
